Line Dancing with Just Us Line Dance Crew
Assuage HER extends its deepest appreciation to Just Us Line Dance Crew for sharing their talents and support towards women's mental health and wellness.
“Dance releases endorphins, a naturally occurring ‘feel-good’ chemical in our brain that increase feelings of pleasure and decrease pain. Endorphins help reduce depression, anxiety and improve your self-esteem. I always leave the dance studio and dance socials with a big smile on my face, even if I didn’t do all the moves perfectly – I still had fun!” - J. Travis, Creator of Assuage HER
Cooking and Mental Health Class at House Three-Thirty
Assuage HER held a cooking class at House Three-Thirty centered around cooking and mental health. This exciting experience was taught by Chef Danni from SIPSAVORSOUL.
“Cooking for others can be an extremely rewarding experience that helps build your self-esteem. But asking others to take an active role in the kitchen can create a sense of community and also improve communication. If you’re cooking with family or friends, deciding who’s taking on which task can be a lot of fun and a practice in delegating tasks.” - J. Travis
Pastry Class with Essential Dipped Delights
Assuage HER was joined by Essential Dipped Delights who taught a pastry class at Northside Marketplace.
“Assuage HER expresses heartfelt gratitude to Takila for inspiring us with her exceptional talents and unwavering commitment to promoting women's mental health and wellness. Your work is truly inspiring, and we are honored to have you as a part of our mission.” - J. Travis
Baking Class with Parm’s Pounds
Acme Fresh Market graciously hosted Assuage HER’s baking class taught by Parm’s Pounds.
“Assuage HER is immensely grateful to Parm’s Pounds for her invaluable contribution to our cause. Her talent and support inspire us to continue our mission of empowering women to achieve optimal mental health and well-being.” - J. Travis
Assuage HER Makeup Class with Makeup by Ahshia
Assuage HER traveled to The Tea Lady to practice health and wellness through the power of makeup. This makeup class was taught by Makeup by Ahshia. Assuage HER is so grateful to have had Makeup By Ahshia inspire them with her exceptional talents and commitment to promoting women's mental health and wellness.
“Makeup can be a great avenue to begin creating that safe space for someone. And it’s relatively accessible to people, especially when you compare it to most other things. Putting on makeup can also serve as a form of art therapy, in the sense that it allows for self-expression and a way for you to regain control through the application itself. You get to decide exactly what you’re doing in that moment and how you're going to do it, and that is empowering,” - Adeeyo, Assuage HER Participant
Creative Writing with EbaNee Bond
Assuage HER was grateful to have EbaNee Bond her talents through a creative writing class held at the Akron Zoo and express her support towards women's mental health and wellness.
“Writing or journaling can benefit women's mental health in several ways. It provides a safe space for self-expression, allowing women to process their emotions and thoughts. This can lead to reduced stress and anxiety levels. Additionally, writing can help women gain clarity and perspective on their experiences, leading to improved emotional well-being. Furthermore, journaling can serve as a tool for tracking patterns in emotions or behaviors, which can be valuable for self-reflection and personal growth. Overall, writing and journaling can be powerful tools for promoting mental health and well-being in women.” - J. Travis
